What is the main reason to purchase a PoweRouter over building my own x86 router? Simple, reliability. Your RouterOS can do everything this one can, however, several things you have to consider in your enterprise class hardware. One, how robust is your hardware you are putting your RouterOS on? What are the processing abilities? What hardware are you using, with what Network Cards? What about compatibility with the system board? All of these factors should be considered when creating your own x86 solution. The PoweRouter takes care of all that for you, in a small form factor, rack mountable solution. Not to mention, all of your Ethernets are in the front of the unit, so no more hunting around behind the rack trying to find an Ethernet. They are all clearly marked and identified. |
